Master Splinter orders Leonardo to find a mystic amulet while training in the woods. When he discovers the charm, it is revealed that Splinter is telling how they stopped the four Stone Generals. He requests that Donatello and Michelangelo continue it. Raph once infiltrated Max Winters’ tower (as Nightwatcher) and overheard a conversation between Winters and Karai. A Stone General then defeated Raph. Later, Leo discovered that Raph was the Nightwatcher, resulting in a chase that ended with Leo being ambushed and captured by the Foot. Raph decides to go after the Foot because he feels guilty. He then encounters and defeats one of the Stone Generals with the help of Don and Mikey.
The turtles then set out to save Leo, which they accomplish just before the temple self-destructs. The turtles then travel to Max Winter’s tower, where Winters tells them about his life as an immortal warrior named Yaotl. Yaotl intended to open a portal to another world but released 13 monsters into the earth instead. Yaotl became immortal, but his generals were turned to stone. Yaotl then planned to end his mistakes and immortality by waiting for the portal to reopen and returning all the monsters to where they came from. He also brought his generals to life, though they remained stone. Because the Stone Generals desired to live forever, they turned on Yaotl. However, the turtles defeated the Generals, the portal opened, and the monsters returned to their dimension. Yaotl then thanks the turtles and dies happy and guilt-free. Following the story, the turtles realize the value of family and grow closer as a family and team.
