Tomoyo After: It’s a Wonderful Life CS Edition is a Japanese visual novel that was produced by Key and published by Prototype. It was first made available on the PS2 on January 25th, 2007. This version of the game is a port of the PC version with the same name. It is the continuation of the novel Clannad.

Tomoyo After is a romance-themed visual novel, where the player takes on the character of Tomoya Okazaki throughout the game. A significant portion of the gameplay consists of reading the narrative and dialogue of the plot. Tomoyo After features a branching storyline with numerous possible conclusions; the way the story develops is determined on the choices that the player makes while playing the game.

The player is presented with a number of decisions to make all during the gameplay, and the flow of the text is halted whenever one of these decisions needs to be taken. The player will need to go through the game a number of times and select a variety of options to steer the story in a new path in order to be able to see every possible branch of the story in its entirety. The additional content in Tomoyo After consists of a minigame called “Dungeons & Takafumis,” which provides the player with the opportunity to participate in an environment similar to that of a role-playing video game. After a single playthrough of the game, the optional minigame “Dungeons & Takafumis” will become accessible.

The plot of Tomoyo After is centered around Tomoya Okazaki, the male protagonist from the Clannad video game, as well as Tomoyo Sakagami, one of the primary heroines of the Clannad video game and the title character of Tomoyo After. Tomoya has already finished his first year as a fully functioning member of society. He is currently employed as both a garbage collector and a repairman. In the beginning, he lives by himself in an apartment rather than with his father, Naoyuki Okazaki, with whom he has a contentious relationship. Much now, Tomoya and Tomoyo are inseparable friends, and in this sequel, Tomoyo’s backstory is fleshed out even more than it was in Clannad. She has maintained communication with Tomoya, and the two of them are showing signs of developing a love relationship by spending more time together.

The events of this narrative take place one month after the events of Clannad, during Tomoya’s summer vacation after he has graduated from high school; he is still in the same town that Clannad was situated in. Tomoyo’s mother reveals to her one day that she has a younger half-sister who goes by the name Tomo Mishima and has been living with them all along. Tomo, a small child who attends kindergarten, is the offspring of Tomoyo’s father and another lady whose name is Yuuko Mishima. Tomo is an illegitimate child. As a result of the significant impact that her mother’s mental health issues had on Tomo, the young girl decided to relocate to Tomoya’s residence. Since Tomoyo has always had a soft spot in her heart for little children, she is extremely protective of her half-sister and does everything in her power to ensure that she is well taken care of.

In addition, Tomoyo has a younger brother by the name of Takafumi Sakagami who is quite accomplished in the field of information technology. After he moves into the flat, he sets up a personal computer in Tomoya’s bedroom where he had previously been staying. Kanako, whose surname is kept a secret, is Takafumi’s ex-girlfriend. She has a potty mouth and is extremely sarcastic, and her surname is kept a secret as well. As a result of the fact that she is unhappy with her mother’s second marriage, she does not like to live at home. She also decides to make Tomoya’s apartment her permanent residence. Approximately eighteen minutes into the sixth episode of the Clannad anime series, she makes a brief appearance as a guest character. The bonds that bind families together play a significant role in the narrative, much like they did in Clannad.
