This game marked the debut of a new trick known as the revert, which required the player to press a button upon landing in a quarterpipe. This move allowed the player to combine many vert combinations with a manual. As a result, players could string together significantly longer combos than they were in the previous two games, in which landing in a quarterpipe would end a combo. In addition to that, the game included secret combos. These were different takes on traditional tricks, and they could be done as grabs, flips, lips, or grinds. For instance, if you tap the kickflip button twice quickly, the character will naturally execute a double kickflip in response.
