Uchuu Senkan Yamato: Iscandar he no Tsuioku

After the events of Saraba, we continue the story of the space battleship Yamato. The third film in the Yamato franchise, “The New Voyage,” was adapted into the anime series Uch Senkan Yamato: Ai no Senshitachi and Uch Senkan Yamato: Iscandar e no Tsuioku. When the holy planet Iscandar is targeted by the corrupt Dark Nebula Empire, Earth and Gamilas are forced to put their long-standing hatred for one another aside and cooperate to save the planet. The Yamato prepares to embark on a new interstellar voyage, which will serve as a crucible for the crew’s development as novices. The gameplay in Uch Senkan Yamato: Iscandar e no Tsuioku is substantially different from the other two PlayStation games, even though the same team developed all three. The game is now a real-time strategy/action in which the player controls the Yamato and allied ships during 3D space fights. Gone are the semi-turn-based tactical engagements that were a part of the previous version of the game. While adhering to the film’s storyline, the video game introduces several new turns, characters, and experiences as players journey to Iscandar. Keisuke Masunaga developed character designs for this series installment, and they are based on Leiji Matsumoto’s original concepts for the series’ protagonists and antagonists. Both animated 2D movies and fully voiced cutscenes within the game are used to tell the story. The characters are drawn using a technique called cel-shading.
