The infamous “White Van Man” is a construction worker well-known to other motorists because he is known to drive his light commercial truck through traffic in an especially belligerent and irritating manner. He is known for blasting his horn for no reason and cutting off other people while driving. Players of White Van Racer are allowed to take on the role of their very own White Van Man and turn the tables on the modern-day phenomenon that is the White Van Man. Vans that can be selected range from those unremarkable to those resembling ice cream trucks, mobile burger shops, or commercial vehicles for painters and window cleaners. Even though there is no regular traffic on the roads, drivers still have to race against up to four other computer-controlled vans to be the first to cross the finish line. There are 12 linear stages, each organized into one of two situations and comprising different iterations (direction, time of day) on each of the game’s four fundamental road segments. In keeping with the character of the White Van Man, aggressively pushing and shoving other drivers is an essential strategy for the successful driver. In addition to rapid race and time trial modes, players can unlock additional stages and vans by competing in one of three championships.
