Who Wants to Be a Millionaire: Party Edition is a quiz game based on the popular TV show modified to be more suitable for multiplayer play. The fundamental rules remain the same: The player assumes the role of a candidate and must answer 15 questions by selecting the correct answer from four given options. He receives money for each correct answer but also loses money when he makes a wrong choice (there are two “guarantee points” to which he can fall back so he doesn’t lose everything). There are also three jokers: removing two false answers, polling viewers in the studio, and calling a friend. The latter is a prerecorded conversation in the game. The game has a more comical appearance than previous game versions because the player must choose between various characters who appear during the game and make humorous statements. The three difficulty levels are also new: while “normal” represents the regular rules described above, “easy” mode adds three lives, which are second chances when answering a question incorrectly, and the “hard” method removes access to jokers. The player must answer as many questions as possible in “quick fire” mode. The multiplayer mode deviates even further from the original rules. After the game asks the question, any player can buzz in. The fastest player must respond in one second, or another player will steal it. He can also force another player to answer the question but will be punished if the other player gets it right (who also gets an extra reward). Each player is given three lives. The goal is to answer 15 questions correctly. There are four additional multiplayer modes: quick-fire, play-or-pass (a player can answer a question or pass it away), millionaire remix (collecting lives and guaranteeing points), and multimillionaire (team-based).
