World Super Police is a police pursuit game for one player. The gameplay here is nearly identical to that of games like Outrun, which debuted on the DOS and Amiga platforms in the mid-1980s. The story behind the game is that regular police cars cannot catch criminals in fast cars, so the World Super Police (WSP) was formed to combat rising car crime. This game has two strands, one centered on the Blue Wing group (WSP Japan) and the other on the Red Hawks (WSP USA). Each strand has a story, but the missions are essentially the same; the player’s car is firmly in the center of the screen at the bottom, and the scenery rushes by. A vertical bar on the left of the screen provides a ‘radar’ view of the road ahead. The goal is to keep the car on the road, travel as quickly as possible while avoiding other traffic, and take out the bad guy with whatever weapons the player has equipped their car(s). This entails racing for a minute until the target(s) appear on the radar, at which point the criminal must be apprehended before they reach the border. Some missions are unarmed and solo, while others have the player accompanied by another WSP in super cars, which can switch between offensive and defensive formations. The main menu also includes a Training option, which is greyed out at the start of the game and can only be accessed after the player has completed one or more missions in either story. The menu also includes a Royal Scramble option, allowing the player to replay previous missions; however, this option is only available after completing one or more tasks.
