Ys IV: Mask of the Sun: A New Theory

The original Ys IV: Mask of the Sun video game was remade into Ys IV: Mask of the Sun – A New Hypothesis. This version has character sprites and 3D environments, in contrast to the original game’s graphics, which were entirely rendered in 2D. Visually, this version is very similar to Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim. The earlier version’s “bumping” style of fighting has been replaced with a more conventional method requiring the player to press an attack button to strike an opponent. This is a more standard method. In addition to new elemental weapons and magic spells, there are three tiers of increasing difficulty for the swords’ strike power. Although the story is essentially the same as it was in the first version, several changes and additions have been made to the events.
