Terracon

Terracon is an action-adventure video game released in August 2000 for the Sony PlayStation in Europe only. When a terraforming machine malfunctions you (Xed) are the only surviving member of you race. He has to fight its robot minions in order to survive and collect the Genergy required to rebuild his homeworld. With a variety of guns Xed runs around several worlds, which are divided into 32 huge 3D levels. STORY: The Greys are a civilisation many millennia older than our own. As their own world became overpopulated, their chief scientists recognised the need to colonise other worlds. It was an awesome project that would require them to alter the balance of nature on the lifeless planets of the System into hospitable new worlds – a technique known as "Terraforming". To supervise all operations and control the machines needed for the job of terraforming the planets, Doc constructs THE TERRACON, a massive artificial brain, a living, thinking mind connected to a network of machines on every planet in the System. Where there was darkness it brought light. Where there was chaos it brought order. Where there was desolation it brought LIFE! But while the Greys enjoyed their new Eden, the Terracon began to evolve; to develop independent thoughts; free will. Once its job was done, its creators decided to shut down the Terracon's systems. The fools! They created a machine to do the work of a GOD! Did they not expect it would believe itself to be one? It was built to create. Now it seeks only to destroy those who stand in its way. The Terracon's first act of retribution was to destroy the Greys homeworld. The lifeless bodies of its creators floated out into space along with the flotsam and jetsam, discarded remains of a dead world. One lowly Grey called Xed barely managed to escape the onslaught and has travelled from planet to planet in search of a way to stop the insane Terracon. Xed is maddened by rage, hungry for revenge. As he catches up with the mighty TERRACON, a great battle between alien and machine begins…
