ResQ

ResQ is an unreleased Sega Mega Drive developed by Tempest Software and set to be published by Psygnosis. It is a 2D action game with both space ship and on-foot segments. Had it been released, ResQ would have been an exclusive title for the Mega Drive. Psygnosis cancelled ResQ very close to release for unknown reasons. It was reportedly programmed on 486 DOS PCs, with the artwork produced with Deluxe Paint II and III on Amiga 1200s. A prototype has since been unearthed, with an internal copyright date of 1993. Notably, ResQ’s bonus stages are depicted as third-person on-the-rails shooting segments which involve primitive 3D polyons, similar to the Super Nintendo’s Star Fox. Ariadne, a peaceful mining colony on the fringes of the Condor system. It’s people prospered in thriving cities. Until… Interplanetary corporate raiders from the Wellmax system planned a very hostile takeover. They trained their formidable Boetsky Fusion Brokers on the defenceless cities of Ariadne. A civilization that had taken hundreds of years to build….. …was destroyed by the Fusion Brokers in nano seconds. A handful of surviving miners took refuge in the network of mines beneath the scorched earth. The Wellmax raiders despatched a crack team of mercenaries to carry out a mopping up operation. Under fire and under siege, the survivors’ one remaining hope is a daring interplanetary rescue mission. But time is running out. The corporate raiders are rampaging across the planet.
