The purpose of this arbitrary change is to provide some variety to the game. The story continues in the same manner, there have been no changes made to the terrain, and all of the new features are connected to Pokemon. Alteration to the location of wild Pokémon, addition of a new opponent, and randomization of Pokémon attacks.
