Hiro Mashima wrote and illustrated Rave Master, also known as The Groove Adventure Rave and Rave (Reivu?, romanized as RAVE) in Japan. Haru Glory, a teenager, seeks the five parts of Rave to defeat Demon Card and restore peace. It was challenging to serialize Mashima’s long series. Kodansha published 35 tank volumes of the manga in Weekly Shonen Magazine from July 1999 to July 2005. Tokyopop distributed the manga in North America until Kodansha let their contract expire. Studio Deen animated 51 episodes of it. TBS aired the anime from October 13, 2001, to September 28, 2002. Tokyopop licensed the anime adaptation, aired on Cartoon Network’s Toonami block in the US on June 5, 2004, and was later re-broadcast on Syfy. The manga’s plot and art have garnered praise. However, Tokyopop’s many changes to the original version resulted in dull and confusing language and an unpleasant soundtrack in the anime adaptation.
