The events of 7 Blades occur in feudal Japan on an artificial island called Dejima. The story’s primary focus is on Gokurakumaru, a mercenary with a troubled past and a penchant for extreme violence. Oyuri, who disdains the use of swords and instead places her life in the hands of her firearms while traveling with Gokurakumaru, is seen across the realm of Dejima. Togizo, Gokurakumaru’s somewhat questionable sidekick, often accompanies him on his journeys. Togizo is not much of a sword fighter, but he gives comedic relief to the plot and unwillingly carries the swords of Gokurakumaru’s dead adversaries as trophies. Even though Togizo is not very good at sword fighting, the story is nonetheless entertaining.
