The first game in the Crash Bandicoot series to be released for a console other than the original PlayStation is titled “Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex.” The events of this story take place some time after the events of Warped. Dr. Cortex is seeking vengeance after being vanquished by Crash (again). In order to accomplish this, he devises Crunch, a super-bandicoot that is capable of destroying anything that stands in his path. Therefore, Crash needs to win against Crunch (and in the end, Dr. Cortex).
In Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex, the first Crash Bandicoot game to be developed for Sony’s 128-bit PlayStation 2 system, the original, ever-smiling orange hero pursues his mad scientist adversary into the next generation of console gaming. Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex was released in 2001. Players will once more take control of Crash Bandicoot, the fearless marsupial explorer, as he embarks on a mission to save the world from the evil schemes of Dr. Neo Cortex by jumping from one platform to the next, much like they did in previous games in the series.
