DDR Extreme is similar to DDRMAX2 7th mix, but some differences exist. The game added a Beginner mode, a Nonstop mode, a mode similar to Challenge mode but with a life bar, a grade at the end, and a random banner. The most noticeable changes are the extra stage and the color, which are both green. You can choose your song to try out on the different steps, but you can also play THE LEGEND OF THE MAX. At ONE MORE EXTRA STAGE, the Dance Dance Revolution banner barred access to other songs. If you pass, a special ending becomes available. The Bemani revival songs, such as Beatmania IIDX, pop’n music, or Keyboardmania, are introduced, as well as an outside DDR series, DDR Solo, Home DDR, and DDR Club version songs created by DDR Extreme. A cheat code revealed the actual number of pieces, 240. When you press the left and right buttons, the series, ABC, bpm, player best, and default sort options become available.
