Polyphony Digital is the studio responsible for creating the racing video game Gran Turismo Concept, which is part of the Gran Turismo series and is available for the PlayStation 2. It was made available to the public in Japan, Southeast Asia, Korea, and Europe in the year 2002. The game was not distributed in the North American market; rather, Gran Turismo: Nissan 350Z Edition was distributed, which was essentially a cut-down version of the original game.
Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec, the full-length edition of the game, was released in 2001. This abbreviated version title, Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec, was released in 2002 and was later succeeded by Gran Turismo 4.
On July 17, 2002, the 2002 Tokyo-Geneva edition was made available for purchase throughout Europe. It featured all of the automobiles from the version that took place between Tokyo and Seoul in 2002, as well as new models that were introduced at the Geneva Motor Show, such as the Volkswagen W12. It was on July 25, 2002, that a Chinese/English NTSC version was made available in Southeast Asia. This version adds 30 automobiles to the 2001 Tokyo version that was made available previously in this region. Since it features the greatest number of vehicles, including the Ford GT40 LM Edition, the 2002 Tokyo-Geneva edition of GT Concept is considered to be the definitive version.
