Boxing video game created by New Corporation for the PlayStation 2 video game platform. The game is based on the Hajime no Ippo franchise and is simply referred to as Victorious Boxers in the United States of America. Hajime no Ippo: Victorious Boxers is also known as just Victorious Boxers. In December of 2000, the game was made available for purchase by Entertainment Software Publishing in Japan. The following year, Empire Interactive brought the game to markets in North America and Europe.
A combination of simulation and arcade-style boxing may be found in this game. The story mode is broken up into six linear segments, all of which were originally meant to run concurrently with one another in the manga. The battles in this video game are based on the battles seen in the manga series. The beginning of the game concentrates on Ippo Makunouchi’s rise to the top of the Japanese featherweight championship rankings. After that, the game shifts its attention to the athletic endeavors of Ippo’s other training partners.
The versus mode has 44 playable characters: Ichiro Miyata, Naoya Ogawa, Yusuke Oda, Toshio Fujiwara, Jazon Ozuma, Kenta Kobashi, Ryuichi Hayami, Ryo Mashiba, Takeshi Sendo, Keigo Okita, Takuma Saeki, Vorg Zangief, Eiji Date, Ponchai Chuwatana, Kazuki Sanada, Hammer Nao, Yi Yonsu, Iwao Shimabukuro, Ryuhei Sawamura, Masaru Aoki, Bull Ushida, Jakal Ito, Snake Thomas, Boy Arate, Paddy Magramo, Katsutaka Imae, Tatsuya Kimura, Shinji Kanzaki, Hiroshi Nijimura, Takeshi Ryuzaki
The visual style of Victorious Boxers has been negatively accepted, but the precision with which it depicts boxing has been lauded. The film has garnered “mostly acceptable reviews.” In terms of business, Japan was able to benefit from its adoption of the product, but the United States of America did not.
