Insidious members of the Dark Hand clan, led by Valmont, a man whose body is possessed by a demon from China named Shendu, have devised a plot to use a Pan Ku puzzle box in order to release demons who have been imprisoned. When the puzzle of this box is finally cracked in a certain part of the world, the devil will be set free and will be able to wreak havoc once more. It is up to Jackie Chan to go all over the world and put an end to Valmont’s plans before he achieves his objective.
Along the route, he will amass twelve mystifying talismans, one corresponding to each of the twelve signs of the Chinese zodiac. These Talismans endow Jackie with a variety of extraordinary abilities, like levitation, laser eyes, re-animation, transmutation, and invisibility, among others.
The action-adventure video game Jackie Chan Adventures is a hybrid of a beat ’em up and an adventure game along the lines of The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time. The player assumes control of Jackie, who is equipped with a wide range of Kung Fu moves to use against her foes. They also have the option of employing Jackie’s signature “running up walls” approach in order to access specific sections. In certain other regions, Jackie will be able to engage in conversation with various characters and participate in various minigames, such as fishing, jumping rope, and playing the drums. A collectible card mini-game with a level of depth comparable to that of Yu-Gi-Oh! is also included in the game.
