This video game is the latest in a long line of LEGO-inspired adaptations of popular franchises, following in the footsteps of Star Wars and Indiana Jones. This time, the LEGO aesthetic is applied to the world of Batman. The fundamental idea remains the same: characters and things are assembled out of LEGO bricks, but this time they are set against backgrounds that are drawn in a more conventional manner. The majority of the locations are played in a side-scrolling fashion with a stationary camera perspective; yet, they are rendered in 3D with a significant amount of depth.

It is not based on a particular film or comic book; rather, it is based on the franchise as a whole, but with an original tale. The animations and sequences have a peculiar sense of humor, and they have little in common with the grimmer atmosphere of modern Batman movies. After breaking out of Arkham Asylum, a group of criminals is now loose in Gotham City, where they cause mayhem wherever they go. In the initial part of the game, players take control of Batman and his sidekick Robin to engage in traditional brawler-style combat against all of the game’s foes. Until the player discovers how to advance in the game, enemies will frequently continue to respawn indefinitely. The locations can be navigated with the use of a variety of tools, including the Batarang and the grappling hook, and the players are free to swap between the two characters at any moment during the game. Both of them can engage in combat, with the “inactive” persona being managed by artificial intelligence at all times. Altering their outfits grant any one of the characters access to a different set of abilities. In this state, Batman is able to lay explosives or glide through the air, but Robin has access to technology that enables him to walk on metal surfaces in any direction thanks to his suit. They are also capable of driving particular cars.

The Batcave serves as a central center where trophies may be stored and missions can be accessed, and both of these characters operate out of it. In several of the quests, there is a short puzzle component that requires the player to clear out a route or press a button. During various stages of the game, things and characters will explode into smaller LEGO bricks, and the hero will need to construct structures with the blocks in order to create new objects. When you have finished a mission in the story mode, it will become accessible for you to play in a separate mode called free play.

In the second portion of the game, players assume the roles of several villains, including Poison Ivy, The Joker, Mr. Freeze, The Riddler, Killer Moth, Hush, Clayface, and Man-Bat, amongst others. They are all equipped with a unique ability, and the chapter of the game in which they participate always concludes when Batman and Robin confront them. In this way, the game demonstrates how they organized their strategies in advance of the battles that take place in the initial portion of the game. Coins, objects, and hearts are all things that the characters amass. Even though they are vulnerable to death, they can instantly regenerate.

Different platforms offer a variety of different multi-player options. Co-op play can be joined or left at any time on both the home console and Windows versions. The performance of the PSP release is the weakest of all, and it does not have any kind of multiplayer option.
