Rhapsody of Zephyr is a side-story that can be found in the role-playing game series The War of Genesis and was developed in Korea. It differs from the majority of the other games in the series in that it contains fewer tactical features and adheres more closely to the standard role-playing game format popular in Japan.

The plot of the video game is mostly inspired by the well-known novel “The Count of Monte Cristo” written by Alexandre Dumas. The atmosphere of the game is modeled like a New Age version of Europe (17th -19th centuries). The game’s protagonist, a young nobleman named Cyrano Bernstein, is tricked by his fiancée Mercedes into betraying him, and the villainous warlock Cesare Borgia takes him captive. After escaping from jail, Cyrano makes a vengeance oath and sets off in search of a mythical sword that is said to be sealed on a nearby island. He also begins to seek out allies in order to become engaged in a war that is being fought between two strong empires.

The gameplay consists of tactical turn-based combat, during which the player has control over where their characters travel on the battlefield. The player has access to a wide variety of magical spells, can enlist the assistance of citizens of nearby towns to assist the protagonists in combat, and can customize their weapons, each of which has its own hit points and can be damaged or destroyed during combat.
