Sakura Taisen Monogatari: Mysterious Paris is set in Paris during the 1920s and features both returning and new characters from Sakura Taisen 3. The story takes place in the same universe as Sakura Taisen 3.
The protagonist of this game is a Japanese investigator named Kojirou Akechi, and the player assumes control of him. Miki, his sister, is a dancer at Paris Kagekidan, the same company featured in Sakura Taisen 3. Kojirou travels from Japan to Paris to witness Miki’s debut performance at “Les Chattes Noires” as a dancer in the front row. But when he gets there, he discovers that Miki’s roommate Elza has vanished. Kojirou will have to unravel the riddle, bringing him face to face with shadowy organizations thriving in Paris.
Mysterious Paris is a departure from the other Sakura Taisen games because it is an authentic Japanese adventure and does not include any fights. The player takes on the role of a detective conducting an investigation, which requires them to question potential criminals, compile evidence, and so on. After the game, the player will be awarded a title that corresponds to his or her level of expertise in PI. The same time-limit method used in the previous two games determines how the player interacts with the characters in this game. The player has a limited time to choose a response, and silence is also considered a response.
