戦国BASARA2英雄外伝 Sengoku BASARA 2 Heroes (aka Sengoku Basara 2 Eiyuu Gaiden) is a Sengoku BASARA 2 expansion released by Capcom on November 29, 2007, for the PlayStation 2 and Wii. Gameplay Modes The Story Mode Players select a character and progress through their story, similar to Sengoku Basara 2’s Story Mode. In contrast to Sengoku Basara 2, the player can only choose from three (newly playable) characters. The story choices are Katakura Kojr, Azai Nagamasa, and Oichi. The third costume for the characters will be given to the player. Story Mode in Gaiden Sengoku Basara 2 Heroes now has a new mode. Gaiden Story Mode is similar to Story Mode in gameplay, but it is shorter, with only three stages each. The characters available in this Mode are also limited. The Gaiden contains Fma Kotar, Maeda Keiji, Date Masamune, Sanada Yukimura, and Chsokabe Motochika. They can also unlock the characters’ third costume. Mode of Conquest Conquest Mode remains the same as in Sengoku Basara 2. This time, however, it includes a new (random) battle and can now be played with two players. Finishing it will grant the player access to the second costume. Battle Mode for Free Free Battle Mode, like previous Sengoku Basara games, allows players to play any unlocked stage as any character. Unlocked stages (including exclusive stages) from Sengoku Basara 2 and Heroes can be played here. Mode of Competition Tournament Mode from Sengoku Basara 2 returns with significant changes. Two types of tournaments are available now: the Grand Tournament and Ultimate Grand Tournament. This Mode, like Conquest Mode, can be played with two players. To make it easier, players can now choose two characters for this Mode and play it like a tag battle (if one player) or split-screen coop (if two players). If a character is killed, they can be revived by the other player in coop mode, or the other character takes their place and is revived in the next round in single-player mode. The enemies fought in each game are also unique. The roulette feature that appears after each game has been removed. Players can still win the best weapon and armor for the characters they use by winning 100 and 50 games, respectively, and they can save every 10 games to keep their progress. Grand Tournament is very similar to the Tournament Mode in Sengoku Basara 2. Players can complete challenges in this tournament while fighting their way through the game; meeting them rewards players with gold and a rice ball, and completing all 60 unlocks a title fan. The EXP gained from completing the rounds is split between the two characters. The Ultimate Grand Tournament is essentially the same as the Grand Tournament. However, instead of EXP, gold is awarded for completing rounds. There is also a time limit, which refills and accumulates after each round is completed. Mode vs. Mode Another new way has been added to this game. Versus Mode pits two characters against each other in one of eight different types of competition. It should also be noted that the AI can only use the Basara Attack in this Mode.
