Stuntman: Ignition is a sequel to the original Stuntman game from 2002. Players take on the role of a Hollywood stunt driver for a film studio. Each level is themed after a movie, and players must drive through it while earning points by performing stunts. After completing each level, players can evaluate their performance by viewing the created movie trailer. Aftershock, Whoopin and a Hollerin’ II, Strike Force Omega, Overdrive, Never Kill Me Again, and Night Avenger are the six films available, each with its setting, goals, and challenges. Each film has six scenes in which the director’s objectives must be met. A successful series of stunts is required to progress. Still, the number of points can be increased by linking them together and adding extra danger by drifting, becoming airborne, or approaching other cars and obstacles. There are two game modes available in the multiplayer mode. Backlot Battle requires players to complete as many stunts as possible in a set number of laps. Backlot Race is a simple racing game in which a boost is obtained through actions. The PS2 version only supports offline gameplay, whereas the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions support multiplayer via the DemonWare middleware.
