Information

Software for the PlayStation 2 is available on CD-ROM and DVD-ROM. The PlayStation 2 has a number of high-profile exclusive titles. The majority of the key entries in the Grand Theft Auto, Final Fantasy, and Metal Gear Solid series were only available on the system. God of War, Ratchet and Clank, Jak and Daxter, Devil May Cry, and Kingdom Hearts all had their start on the PlayStation 2. The best-selling game on the PlayStation was Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.

Sony Interactive Entertainment, previously Sony Computer Entertainment, created the PlayStation 2 (abbreviated in marketing as PS2), a home video game system. It is the PlayStation’s successor and the second system in the PlayStation range. It was released in Japan on March 4, 2000, in North America on October 26, 2000, in Europe on November 24, 2000, and in Australia on November 17, 2000. In the sixth generation of video game systems, it competed against Sega’s Dreamcast, Microsoft’s Xbox, and Nintendo’s GameCube.
