Fighting game Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butden was created by Arc System Works and released by Bandai Namco for the Nintendo 3DS.

Extreme Butden is a two-dimensional fighting game in which players may build their teams, including combat and support characters, and then pit them against one another in a one-on-one contest. The primary purpose of the fight is to eliminate all of the fighters on the other side. This can be accomplished by bringing their remaining health to zero or having a more significant overall amount of remaining health than the opponent when the allotted time expires.

Every fighter can execute either a weak, consequential or special attack. These attacks may be chained together to perform many combos, which can be viewed on the controls screen in the pause menu. Certain fighters can only execute special attacks. Hyper Dashes can cancel out the majority of combinations, giving soldiers the ability to perform additional combos. The player also has access to a Spirit Gauge in this game, which may initially be charged up to 150% and then be utilized to conduct Special Attacks.

Similarly to the previous games in the Burden series, players will go through two distinct phases: the ground level and the sky level. Depending on the level difference between you and your opponent, a successful Meteor Combo will send your foe flying or crashing to the earth. Fighters on the ground who are sent into the air will float for a short period, giving them more time to engage in follow-up attacks, while soldiers launched to the ground will take more damage upon impact.
