The long-running N.H.L. franchise has new rules, rosters, schedules, and features. Elite players’ deking maneuvers confuse opponents and reward skill with the left analog stick. The stick improves shooting accuracy. As you prepare to shoot, a bull’s eye appears in the opponent’s goal, and you can quickly shift the target to the corners for precision. Players’ momentum and turning radius reflect speed and size, complementing their unique traits. Gain momentum to pass opponents quickly. Since R.P.M. dynamics allow mask shots to stun goalies, puck randomness has increased. Ice distortion during the match is another minor feature. In player creation mode, the thumbstick is used for “face sculpting” to add bruises, broken noses, black eyes, and scars to characters. The Dynasty Mode from the previous version includes scouting and top management choices inside and outside the arena. Unlike the last game, you can now help your team win simulated A.I. games.
