One hundred mamono descend upon Earth every thousand years to fight the final war. The victorious mamono ascends to the throne of the mamodo planet. There is only one problem: the many men onto require a human spouse to employ their potent spell books. Kiyomaro is a talented but reserved 14-year-old junior high school student. Kiyomaro’s archeologist father discovers an unconscious mamono child named Zatch in a woodland in England. He assigns the goodhearted and mysterious Zatch as his son’s mentor. Zatch suffers from amnesia and has no knowledge he is a formidable Mamodo! It’s up to Kiyomaro and Zatch to figure it out together. Zatch and Kiyomaro must defend themselves against a never-ending barrage of mamono-king wannabes. Zatch and Kiyomaro, unbeknownst to their foes, have created a peculiar link that allows them to unleash Zatch’s extraordinary powers.
