Football All-Stars The “All-Pro League,” or ‘APL,’ is a fictional league in NBA 2K8. The APL is made up of 24 teams divided into six divisions of four teams each. The league, like the NFL, has a sixteen-game schedule and a championship game at the end of the playoffs. Because the NFL’s exclusivity agreement with EA only applies to active players, 2K contracted the individual rights to over 240 retired NFL players to appear in the game. Even though there are no NFL clubs in the game, the user can still build teams similar to their NFL counterparts.

A Create-a-Player option allows players to add players not on the roster, such as Hall of Fame linebacker Lawrence Taylor. While the game features clubs from Los Angeles and Las Vegas, neither of which has an NFL team, there are no teams from Buffalo, Kansas City, Baltimore, Jacksonville, Tennessee, Indianapolis, San Diego, or New Orleans with real NFL teams. Cleveland and Cincinnati are both represented by an Ohio team, and the San Francisco Bay Area is represented by one team rather than two. Green Bay is not represented, although a nearby city, Milwaukee, is.
