The gameplay of Burn Zombie Burn is similar to that of an arena shooter, and it has the player in charge of Bruce against an endless horde of zombies. It is necessary to achieve a high enough score to advance in the game, and the purpose is to eliminate as many zombies as possible before the character expires. The primary gameplay element consists of lighting zombies on fire. Each zombie set ablaze contributes to the aggregate point multiplier by carrying out this strategy. Flaming zombies are more deadly than regular zombies because they move more quickly and deal more harm to Bruce if they come too close to him.
Eliminating individual blazing zombies in this way hurts the multiplier. However, the score will be doubled by the total number of zombies on fire at the time if a significant number of them are eliminated in a single blow, such as by using explosives. The objective of the game shifts at this stage, and previously harmless zombie varieties, such as the exploders, become more of a problem. This is because they explode when they come into contact with fire, which ruins the possibility of scoring points.
The game has six stages, each with a unique aesthetic. After completing three consecutive weapon combos, pressing the “Big Red Button” will initiate a one-of-a-kind event exclusive to that particular level. In addition, there are four primary game types: Freeplay, Defense, Timed, and Challenges.
