Call of Duty: Classic is a 2009 console port of the original PC release that features up-scaled quality and HD material. Even though online multiplayer-only has 8 players as opposed to 64 on PC. Call of Duty is a first-person shooter that puts the user in command of an infantry soldier who uses actual World War II guns in combat.
Each mission has a set of objectives marked on the compass in the heads-up display; the player must complete all objectives to move on to the next mission. Rather than the checkpoint system used in later Call of Duty games, the player can save and load at any time. The player has two major weapon slots and a handgun slot and can carry up to 10 grenades. Weapons found on the battlefield and dropped by dead soldiers can be swapped. In contrast to other Call of Duty games, the first allows the player to switch between various firing styles (single shot or automatic fire).
Call of Duty was one of the first first-person shooters to use iron sights in gameplay; by pressing the corresponding key, the player aims down the gun’s actual sights for enhanced accuracy. In addition to the weapons carried by the player, the player has control over mounted machine guns and other fixed weapon emplacements.
