Cars: Race-O-Rama is a racing game set in the world of Disney/Cars. Pixar’s is the third installment in a THQ licensed game series that includes Cars and Cars: Mater-National Championship.
GAME MODE
The game has a single-player story mode as well as an arcade option. In story mode, you proceed through a series of races and mini-games that are interspersed with cutscenes. You can replay narrative mode events and compete in 2-player split-screen races in arcade mode.
GAME’S PLOT
Cars: Race-O-Rama revolves around Lightning McQueen as he prepares Doc Hudson Racing Academy students to compete on the Race-O-Rama Circuit. Lightning soon discovers that his arch-enemy, Chick Hicks, is training a competing team of racers that do not follow the regulations. Lightning must battle against these competing racers for the Race-O-Rama trophy. Story mode employs an open-world approach in which you can drive to specified waypoints to explore the world and participate in various events. The seven main explorable areas are Radiator Springs Stadium, Ornament Valley, Tailfin Pass, Radiator Springs, Santa Carburera, Autovia, and Metropolis. There are also three mini-games centered on Mater from the Disney/Pixar animated short series “Cars Toons.” “Mater the Greater,” “El Materdor,” and “Tokyo Mater” are a few examples. There is a boost meter that slowly fills up while racing. Using the boost will give you a short boost in speed. There’s also a new drifting mechanism that lets you do tighter corners and quickly fill the boost meter. In most races, you can also leap to escape obstacles and other racers.
