Diablo III

The game takes place in Sanctuary, the Diablo series’ grim fantasy universe. This world was spared twenty years ago by a group of unidentified heroes in Diablo II, who had survived the attack of the army of the Burning Hells, who had gone insane as a result of their ordeals. It is up to a new generation of heroes to confront the forces of evil that threaten Sanctuary’s world. Players will be able to visit familiar locations such as Tristram. Deckard Cain, who has been in both prior games, and his niece, Leah, a new character who occasionally joins the hero on quests, are the only confirmed NPCs.

The plot will concentrate upon two remaining Lesser Evils, Azmodan, and Belial, as well as a mysterious item known as the Black Soulstone. Diablo’s world map comprises two major continents, with a few tiny islands in the Northwest region. The destruction of the Realm Stone in Diablo II: Lord of Destruction has drastically altered the world of Sanctuary.
