INTRODUCTION
Dragon Ball: Raging Blast ( ドラゴンボール レイジングブラスト Doragon Bru Reijingu Burasuto?) is a video game based on the Dragon Ball manga and anime franchise. Spike was developed and published by Namco Bandai for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 game consoles in North America, while it was distributed under the Bandai label elsewhere. During the second week of November 2009, it was released in Japan, North America, Europe, and Australia. A limited-edition pack of the game was also released in Europe, which featured supplementary collector stuff. The game is a cel-shaded 3D fighter that allows players to play as characters from the Dragon Ball universe against the game’s AI or another player in one of the many modes of play available both online and offline. The game is one of the first in the Dragon Ball brand to be distributed in North America by Namco Bandai, which acquired the gaming license from previous license holder Atari in July of that year.
GAME MODE
For its story mode and overall gameplay mechanics, the game received mixed reviews from gaming journalists. The Dragon Combat Collection option in the game lets players play through the original events of the Dragon Ball story, but their decisions in battle can affect the story in various ways. Over 100 “Battle Frames” can be chosen at any moment, independent of their chronological order in the series.
The plot extends from the Saiyan Saga to the Kid Buu Saga. Battle Frames also contain “what-if” scenarios that never happened in the series. In the “Dojo,” players can train and perfect their talents. Players can also participate in the single-player “Super Battle Trial” variants. A 16-player “Budokai Tournament,” solo or team battle VS, and a spectator option where users can rate the fighters are all available in the online mode. New combination moves are now available, allowing two characters to execute special strikes at the same time.
NEW FEATURES
There are also fresh new environmental aspects, such as improved interactions with the battlefield’s terrain. Rocks, mountains, and even the ground beneath the ground are now destructible. The ground might now break, shatter, or disappear. Players can now throw adversaries against rocks or other environmental objects, trapping them, rendering them helpless and unable to move. The capsule system from earlier games has also been brought back, allowing players to customize their characters.
