INTRODUCTION
Dragon Ball: Raging Blast 2 (Japanese: ドラゴンボール レイジングブラスト2 Hepburn: Doragon Bru Reijingu Burasuto Ts) is a video game based on the manga and anime franchise Dragon Ball. It is the sequel to the 2009 video game Dragon Ball: Raging Blast. Spike created it and released it in early November 2010 by Namco Bandai under the Bandai label for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 gaming systems. The game is a 3D fighter that allows players to play as characters from the Dragon Ball universe against the game’s AI or another player in one of the many modes of play available both online and offline. The game includes a fresh recreation of the Dragon Ball Z Side Story: Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans OVA from 1993, now titled Dragon Ball: Plan to Eradicate the Super Saiyans. While the game was the second best-selling in Japan in November of its release year, it received criticism for its gameplay, controls, repetitious AI, and lack of a genuine story mode.
GAME’S MODE
Raging Blast 2 employs 3-D gaming techniques, with the camera shifting between over-the-shoulder and overhead viewpoints at key points. The player assumes one of the available characters as they battle another character from the franchise using different basic, melée, or distinctive ki combat tactics. The combat includes a tactic called Raging Soul, in which players are barred from using ki attacks, but their physical strikes become stronger. The Galaxy Mode replaces the normal story mode from prior Dragon Ball fighting games. Each character in the game is represented by a planet in the game’s galaxy. There are various mission pathways on these planets. Each task has different benefits and disadvantages that will affect the entire fight. Completing some of these tasks will grant you access to powerups and/or new quest pathways. [4]
Other modes of play include the Battle Zone, in which players compete against fighters from different zones. On and offline battle modes in which players can compete against friends or random players from around the world, and the World Tournament, in which players compete in either Tenkaichi Budokai or Cell games style fighting competition.
