The player has direct control over the players in FIFA Soccer 12, a video game in which they play soccer. As is customary, the game provides a comprehensive license package that allows the player to assume command of a real-life squad competing in a real-life championship. Nevertheless, the most critical aspect of the game is the career mode: For up to 15 seasons, depending on the role, the player pushes his team to the top of the league, either as a manager, an individual athlete, or a coach. A unique set of responsibilities and tests comes with taking on each role.
Compared to the console version of FIFA 11, the most significant improvements are a new physics engine, a new defense system, and something called “Pro Player Intelligence.” This feature ensures that players are aware of the abilities of their teammates and make decisions based on that information.
