Gamindustri is in danger! Assemble, CPU Candidates! mk2 takes place in an alternate dimension and does not follow the tale of its predecessor, making it more of a reboot than a straight sequel. The Arfoire Syndicate, a group of four criminals hoping to resurrect the Diety of Sin, Arfoire, has risen due to rampant piracy. This time, the player controls Nepgear, Neptune’s younger sister. Nepgear, who was recently released from the Gamindustri Graveyard, must unite the CPU Candidates, free their older sisters from the Graveyard, and put an end to the Syndicate’s terrible plans.
The game’s gameplay has been totally redesigned. As enemies appear on the map, battles are no longer random. Battles take place in tiny, open spaces, and party members can move freely within their range. An Action Gauge governs movement and actions. Different powers diminish the gauge in varying degrees, and a character’s turn ends when the gauge is emptied.
