The Rayman series of video games has now reached its third major milestone with the release of Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc. It relates the narrative of how Rayman defeats André, a villainous black lum, planning to take control of the planet using an army of sack-like warriors called “Hoodlums.” In contrast to the previous installment of the series, Rayman 3 takes a more comedic approach; it is filled with ironic, self-referential overtones and makes fun of the genre of video games known as platformers. In 2003, it was made available for the GameCube, PlayStation 2, Xbox, and Windows Ubisoft. In 2004, Feral Interactive made it available for the OS X platform. In 2012, a remastered high-definition version of the game was made available for download on PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade. Arrangements in two dimensions have been made for the Game Boy Advance and the N-Gage. Rayman: Hoodlums’ Revenge, a sequel to the original game, was made available on the Game Boy Advance in 2005. Before the release of Rayman Origins in 2011, this would be the final game in the main series of the Rayman franchise.
