Tears to Tiara II: Heir of the Overlord is a role-playing strategy game (RPG) with gameplay similar to visual novels. The game’s protagonist is Hamilcar Barca, a young man enslaved to the Divine Empire and struggling to survive. Nevertheless, when the Empire sacrifices an innocent girl by offering her on a stake, he reveals a dreadful secret: the untamed wrath and demonic might of the berserker within him. Hamilcar takes on the responsibility of liberating his people from the oppression of a corrupt Empire, using the strength he has recently gained and the demand of a deity. He will face formidable allies, monstrous adversaries, and even the gods on his quest to free himself and the rest of his oppressed people.
Nevertheless, he must first master the demon that is within him, or else he will bring about the destruction of the entire world. The plot is told in a visual novel style, with over 15 primary characters for players to come to know. The combat system, centered on strategic turn-based gaming, will test the mettle of even the most experienced generals. Adding concepts like Joint Attacks, Consecutive Strikes, and Boost Magic gives the gameplay of the strategy mode additional depth and makes for more replayability—story, and audio from the original battle recorded in Japanese.
