The Tiger Woods PGA series continues with the 2008 edition, bringing several updates and improvements to the previous version without making significant graphical or gameplay adjustments. You can select from a variety of licensed professional golfers (21 on the Xbox 360/PS3 and 23 on the PS2/Wii) and new courses (Xbox 360/PS3: 5 new, 16 in total; PS2: 6 new, 18 in total).

Using the Xbox Live Vision camera, PlayStation EyeToy, PlayStation Eye, or a webcam, players of the Xbox 360, PS2, PS3, and Windows versions can input photos into the game to create in-game faces on the characters based on custom images. This feature is also available in the Windows version. Additional customization options include changing your eye color, hair color, or outfit. Enhancing one’s starting statistics by completing challenges based on power or precision is possible. They can also be improved by performing well on the PGA Tour, where skill strokes and the overall rating are considered. Players can unlock extra golfers and spend their winnings on new golfing gear from the pro shop.

The FedExCup championship concept, a collection of individual events, is incorporated into the game, and it features rounds of golf played at Westchester Country Club, TPC Boston, Cog Hill, and East Lake. The putt preview has been enhanced so that the player can now model the path the ball will take once for each unique spot. This simulation will consider the ball’s power, speed, and elevation. The analog stick is not used to conduct shots on the Xbox 360 or the PS3, but rather the 3-point timed principle is used to determine each shot’s start, power, and accuracy. The new feature known as “Shot Confidence” monitors the player’s performance on particular courses, when putting with specific clubs, and when using particular putters. The confidence level increases due to successful implementations, which leads to increased experience and improved results on particular courses. When you lack self-assurance, your accuracy suffers, your pulse rate quickens and the Wii controls become unsteady.

The multiplayer mode, which now supports up to four players, has been enhanced with GamerNet, enabling users to design and compete in their unique challenges, with the results being uploaded online (for Xbox 360, PS3, and Windows).

Players of the Wii can shake the controllers to tease their opponents with one of four distinct moves to put them off their game. This tool can rotate the room, add distracting sounds, or change the air conditions. There are three different control schemes available to choose from: Full Swing (using the Wii remote), Sitting Swing (using the Wii remote in a waggle motion), and the traditional controls, which involve using the Nunchuck for analog play. Turning the Wii Remote in the direction of your swing can add hooks and slices to your shots in Full Swing. A Miniputt mode is another something that can only be found on the Wii.
