The video game UFC 2009 Undisputed is based on mixed martial arts, featuring competitors and properties associated with the Ultimate Fighting Championship. UFC 2009 Undisputed is the first mixed martial arts video game of its generation, and it boasts over 80 competitors competing across all five weight classes. Additionally, it showcases over 100 UFC characters, ranging from the UFC’s broadcasters Mike Goldberg and Joe Rogan to the ring girls Arianny Celeste and Edith Labelle.
UFC 2009 Undisputed showcases six different fighting disciplines, three of which are striking (Boxing, Kickboxing, and Muay Thai) and three of which are grappling (Wrestling, Judo, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu), with each competitor bringing one style from each category to the table. To recreate the atmosphere of a UFC bout, two combatants square off against one another in an octagonal ring using the striking and grappling techniques associated with their different fighting styles and the signature moves typically related to each combatant.
Extending upon the various modes available in the game, the Exhibition mode is for any player who wants to dive right into the action as their preferred fighter. The player recreates some of the most iconic battles in Classic battles. If the player manages to get the fight to the same conclusion as the actual fight, they will be rewarded with a montage movie that showcases the most important moments from that particular fight. With Create-A-Fighter, any UFC fan will have the power to design their fighter. With the ability to upload their fighter into their Career, they will also have the opportunity to construct their Career in the sport.
