The plot

“Oreshika: Tainted Bloodlines,” or “Oreshika,” is set in a mythical ancient Japan. Your clan is cursed to live two years at the start of the game. As clan leader, you must lift this curse and restore your family’s honor after falsely accusing the Emperor of treason. Japanese mythology and folklore enrich the story. You’ll hunt down the liar who falsely accused your clan for generations.

Graphics and Gameplay

Oreshika mixes strategy and turn-based RPG mechanics. Turn-based combat requires an approach, and RPG elements allow character growth. Considering the two-year lifespan, strategic decisions must be made in managing each clan generation, including marriages and procreation, to sustain your lineage and progress your family. Each action advances the game’s complex calendar so every choice could be your character’s last. Oreshika’s stylized characters and watercolor environments evoke traditional Japanese art. These visuals and a detailed world captivate players.

Characters

Your clan members in Oreshika span generations. Every character starts as a blank slate, but battle victories and strategic management give them unique abilities and traits. Players must constantly create new warriors due to their short lifespans. As a result, you form an emotional bond with these characters. The game also introduces ancient Japanese gods, who can help and even marry your clan, producing powerful offspring.
