Retro Studios developed a 2D platformer with a sidescrolling format called Donkey Kong Country Returns for the Nintendo Wii. The book was published in November 2010.
The day is calm on DK Island until the volcano in the middle of the island suddenly erupts, and a massive Tiki tower rises from the magma. After this, the day on DK Island is disturbed.
At this point, the players are given an introduction to the Tiki Tak tribe, which at that point had already taken control of DK island. Seven of the Tiki Tak tribe’s most powerful leaders disperse themselves over the island and mesmerize the local fauna to carry out their dirty job for them (and act as basic enemies for DK and Diddy)
Donkey Kong, who is clueless about what is going on and becomes a victim of the tribe, is the target of the tribe’s first move, which is to take the golden bananas that belong to Donkey Kong for some purpose unknown to Diddy. Diddy gives chase.
This game is a 2D platformer with 3D graphics, referred to as 2.5D. In this game, as in the others in the Donkey Kong Country series, the objective is to get the massive ape from point A to point B while avoiding hazards and uncovering mysteries, and finally, to confront the boss at the end of the world.
The previous games were notorious for having many hidden items and collectibles, and this installment is not an exception; thus, if you want to earn a perfect score, you will need to scour each level.
