Five years after The Destroyer was defeated, a new precious mineral known as Eridian was found in Pandora’s crust. Handsome Jack’s mighty Hyperion Corporation seized a moon base and eventually conquered the entire planet, depriving it of Eridian. One day, Jack sets a trap that four vault hunters fall into. However, a ClapTrap robot saves them and directs them to a resistance group attempting to overthrow Hyperion’s government. Borderlands 2 is a first-person shooter that, like its predecessor, combines character creation, missions, and procedural content generation aspects from role-playing games, notably roguelikes, with vehicle-based action from modern shooters. The sequel introduces four new characters representing four distinct classes with various talents and weapon affinities. Experience points are converted into skill points, which may then be assigned to the nodes of one of three skill trees that differ by class. Weapons vary not just in kind, fire speed, and damage but also in elemental damage, which is more or less effective against various opponents. Players can take on the game’s tasks alone or with the assistance of other players in cooperative multiplayer mode. Compared to the original game, the gaming environment is no longer divided into disparate components but is now seamlessly integrated. Non-player characters now have their timetables and agendas rather than being stuck in their positions indefinitely.
