NBA Jam is a basketball video game developed and distributed by EA Canada. It was published on October 5, 2010, as the newest chapter in the NBA Jam video game franchise. The game was initially intended to be released as a full retail release for the Wii, with the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions accessible as a free download with the purchase of NBA Elite 11. However, on September 28, 2010, EA confirmed that Elite would be delayed. On November 17, 2010, the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions were published as stand-alone titles. The game features a distinct visual design, using 3D models with high-resolution pictures for each player’s head. Several elements from the original games, such as the fantastic slam dunks and the ball-catching fire, return. Mark Turmell, the inventor of the original NBA Jam, is working as a consultant. Tim Kitzrow, the original NBA Jam announcer, also produces, re-recording all of the lines from prior NBA Jam titles. As of April 7, 2010, all NBA rosters are current. The iOS version of the game is also available for OS X via the Mac App Store, making it the game’s sole official PC version.
