Saints Row

Saints Row is an open-world action-adventure video game released in 2006 for the Xbox 360. Saints Row, developed by Volition, Inc. and published by THQ, was released on August 29, 2006, in North America, followed by an Australian release two days later and a European release on September 1, 2006. It received a generally good critical reaction; critics recognized parallels with the Grand Theft Auto series, with some believing that Saints Row improved on the open-world premise of Grand Theft Auto. The Saints Row series begins with this game. Saints Row allows players to travel the game world freely and participate in tasks at their leisure. Missions are unlocked by trading in “Respect” points, cash obtained by playing mini-games and played via three story cycles, each to depose a rival gang. Saints Row takes place in the fictitious city of Stilwater, which is patterned around Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland, and Baltimore. The player character becomes caught up in a firefight between the three gangs vying for control of Stilwater: Los Carnales, the Vice Kings, and the Westside Rollerz. He joins the 3rd Street Saints gang in the Saint’s Row sector and works with them to liberate Stilwater from gang domination.
