Third-person stealth gameplay is featured in Hitman: Contracts. The players assume the character of “47,” a hitman who has been unfortunate enough to get shot and is currently lying on the ground while dying. The entirety of the game takes place in “flashbacks,” during which 47 is reflecting on prior missions. Some of these missions were featured in Hitman: Codename 47, the original game in the Hitman series, so fans of that game will recognize some of the content.
The gameplay of Hitman: Contracts is very similar to the gameplay of the previous games in the series. Your objective will be to perform multiple missions, each of which will require you to carry out assassinations of targets located in various parts of the world. You have two options for evading the suspicious guards: either pretend to be someone else and move around, or you can open fire on everyone you see. After you have finished your job, you will be awarded a rating, ranging from the undesirable “Mass Murderer” to the highly desirable “Silent Assassin.” If you are successful in completing a mission with the “Silent Assassin” rating, you will be rewarded with a unique weapon (such as dual sawed-off shotguns), and you will also have the opportunity to replay a mission that you have already finished with one of the unique weapons.
