The game is designed to be a “Pick up and Play” experience for players of all skill levels. The game is suitable for complete beginners, seasoned musicians, and everyone in between. BandFuse: Rock Legends includes an animated version of Guitar and Bass tablature, a global musical notation style enhanced with timing information and interactive feedback, and the unique audio engine. A scored vocal highway design licensed by strategic partner Harmonix Music Systems is also included in a Karaoke Mode for more informal play.
On November 19, 2013, the game was launched in North America on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles, and on November 26 in Latin America. On December 19, 2013, it was released in Japan for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. A European release date has not yet been confirmed. BandFuse has a multiplayer mode that can accommodate up to four players. The BandFuse: Band Pack hardware expansion bundle is backward compatible with the BandFuse: Rock Legends Artist Pack, allowing three more players to connect and play. The Band Pack includes a special (AcoustiLink) adapter that enables acoustic guitars in gameplay. The Band Pack comes with a voice microphone, two additional SpeedFuse instrument cables, an AcoustiLink acoustic guitar adaptor, and a four-port USB hub in North America.
