Beyond Good & Evil is a late-2003 action-adventure video game developed and published by Ubisoft for the PlayStation 2, Microsoft Windows, Xbox, and GameCube platforms. In March 2011, a full HD remastered version of the game was released on Xbox Live Arcade and in June 2011 on PlayStation Network.
The plot revolves around Jade, an investigative reporter and martial artist who collaborates with a resistance movement to uncover a global alien conspiracy. The player controls Jade and her comrades to solve puzzles, fight adversaries, and collect photographic evidence. The Rayman series’ designer, Michel Ancel, envisioned the game as the first installment in a trilogy. Beyond Good & Evil was a commercial flop, but it received critical acclaim, earning a nomination for “Game of the Year” at the 2004 Game Developers Choice Awards.
