Brink is a game that, thankfully, is a lot more thrilling when it is played online with other human users. You have the option of playing online either cooperatively against the computer or competitively against real people. Each of these activities is entertaining in its own special way. Since artificial intelligence is so inept, well-organized teams will easily steamroll the opposition in co-op, which can be a very pleasant experience. The Versus mode is significantly more difficult, and it requires you to maintain clear lines of communication with your team in order to defeat an adversary faction with capabilities comparable to your own.
The objectives shift on the fly, making it necessary for teams to make advantage of the many player classes available in the game. Players have the option to play as soldiers, operatives, engineers, or medics in Brink’s team-based gameplay, although the game doesn’t do anything particularly innovative with this gameplay mechanic. However, the action is well-balanced and enjoyable, and each class contributes its own distinct set of perks to the dynamic of the squad.
