A fantastic controller is included with DJ Hero. This controller simulates the turntable and mixer that are part of a genuine DJ’s set-up. The top of the turntable is adorned with three different colored buttons, designed in the style of Guitar Hero. The button on the far left initiates the play of the first record, while the one on the far right initiates play of the second record. The button in the centre of the mixer is used for sampling, and the crossfader on the mixer lets you cut between different tracks. Don’t worry if none of this is making much sense; Grandmaster Flash has a wonderful lesson that will walk you through the fundamentals and explain everything in further detail.
Freestyle Games has designed a game called DJ Hero that, while it might not be able to win over fans of bands like ZZ Top who consider themselves to be “so not mainstream,” it should be able to win over fans of other types of music. Hip-hop, dance, pop, and electronica are just few of the genres that can be found in this game’s soundtrack. You know, the kind of music that you would probably like to listen to on a Friday night, and that has a broader depth of sounds than simply a drum kit, two guitars, and a bass. Y’know what I mean?
